SELECTED EXHIBITS
My earlier body of work (before watercolors) includes the Embellished Bones series of sculptures featuring animal skulls with beads. The intent is to honor the spirit of the animal and highlight the architecture of the bones using natural stone, pearls seed beads.
2023 - Windows of Perception; Austin/Irving Library, Chicago
"Secret Garden, Kiev"
Mixed Media, 48" x 48"
I imagined what a young girl living in Kiev, needing to stay home, might do to occupy herself. She paints flowers, creating her own garden. She uses beads from old necklaces to adorn the window frame. She adds scraps of yarn. She uses art to block out the image of the bombed-out apartment building next door.
